The farm field at the head of the lake is one of the few open lake vistas left. So far the owners have been able to preserve this rolling landscape and I am so appreciative. On this day, the storm clouds parted just enough to cast the white glow on the gold and green meadow.

Once a beautiful homestead, with mountain and meadow views, the growth and brambles are overtaking the farm.
I have a thing for red barns, perhaps because they remind me of the Pennsylvania barns of my childhood. I am also inspired by the Pennsylvania impressionists who often feature these barns.

The ice has been great for skating in this winter of scant snow. Maine has less accumulation than Maryland! It does give us all this rare opportunity to get back to basics and have some old fashioned fun. My friends have skated 12 miles from one end of the lake to the other, quite a feat!
